Jake reached out to me through my website last week to inform me he would be proposing to his girlfriend, Meredith, on Driftwood Beach on May 19, "would I be interested?" My answer? "Heck yes I'm interested!" Excuse me but any time I get a front row seat to surprising the love of a life or sweetness or acts of kindness or anything else that makes my heart swell, you can just gone ahead & sign me up! We met at 10:30 the morning-of to devise a master plan & parted ways until the "big moment!"
I was uncertain how it would look should I get caught so I decided to bring a friend/colleague to pretend I was taking pictures of her. (I'm a TERRIBLE liar when I'm caught on-the-spot but a pretty mediocre actor.) The beach was semi-crowded and there is always a group of people with a camera in-hand. Jake gave me a 30-minute timeline that they would be crossing my path, which felt like the longest 30 minutes of my life. I mean, my arms & legs started going numb from the lack of blood flow my heart was beating so fast. (Dramatic? I don't even care.) I finally spotted them & I began giving modeling commands to my colleague. Meredith was even nice enough to let me finish taking a picture before they walked in front of my camera! Moments later, Jake was dropping a knee & asking her hand in marriage.
After the proposal, we made time to take photographs of the newly engaged couple & this will go down as one of my most favorite sessions ever. The love these two have for one another is unquestionable & I couldn't be happier for them!
Thank you, Jake, for letting me capture this very special moment & congratulations to you both!
